Away from Oman’s coastal highlights, Nakhal offers a quieter, history-rich day out built around a historic fort, natural hot springs and one of the country’s most scenic 4×4 routes. The Al Batinah South region is known for its date palm groves, traditional villages and the ancient falaj irrigation system that still carries mountain water to the oases today.
This full-day tour from Muscat starts at Nakhal Fort, perched on a rocky outcrop above the oasis, followed by a relaxed stop at the Ain Thowarah hot springs and the quieter Ain Al Kasfa spring near Rustaq. At the beautifully restored Bait Al Ghasham Museum, you’ll get an authentic look at traditional Omani living, before heading out by 4×4 through the dramatic gorge of Wadi Bani Awf.
