Vietnam’s length means no single season suits the whole country. North Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Sapa) is driest and coolest from October to April. Central Vietnam (Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang) is best avoided during the typhoon season from September to December, with the driest months from February to August. South Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta) stays tropical year-round, with a dry season from November to April. March and April, or October, are the best windows if you’re combining all three regions in one trip.
German, Austrian and Swiss nationals can currently enter Vietnam visa-free for stays of up to 45 days (tourism, business, family visits), under a policy running through 2028. Most other nationalities can apply for the e-visa online in advance via the National Portal on Immigration. Please note that the official portal occasionally experiences technical issues or slow loading times — if this happens, we recommend trying again later or applying a few days earlier than planned. A valid passport with at
least six months’ remaining validity is required. We advise on current
entry requirements for your specific nationality before every trip, as
policies can change.
No mandatory vaccinations are required for most travellers. Routine vaccinations should be up to date, and hepatitis A and typhoid are commonly recommended given Vietnam’s street food culture. Mosquito protection is worth planning for, especially in the Mekong Delta and during the rainy season.
Vietnam’s three main regions are best connected by short domestic flights – Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City are each under two hours apart – or the scenic Reunification Express train along the coast. Within each region, all transfers, drivers and local guides are organised on the ground.
Vietnamese is the national language. Our local partners provide English-speaking guides as standard, with German and other languages available on request for most regions – ideal for our DACH clients travelling as a family or small group.

Yes, Vietnam is a popular family destination and generally very safe. The main thing to plan around is traffic – motorbikes dominate city streets, so crossing roads and getting around cities needs a bit more attention than in Europe. We build private transfers into every itinerary specifically to avoid this.
To comfortably cover all three regions, we typically recommend 12 to 16 days. If you'd rather focus on one or two regions, 7 to 9 days is enough to see the highlights properly without rushing.
No, tap water isn't safe to drink directly. Bottled and filtered water is inexpensive and available everywhere, including at hotels, and most accommodations provide complimentary water daily.
Yes, especially for overnight cruises during peak season (October to April) or around Vietnamese holidays like Tet. We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks ahead to secure your preferred boat and cabin category.
