Nizwa City 2-Day Tour

Oman’s former capital, a legendary fort, an underground cave and the country’s own Grand Canyon — over two unforgettable days.

Nizwa, Oman’s former capital and still known as the country’s cultural heart, is the gateway to some of the most dramatic landscapes in the Hajar Mountains. This two-day, one-night tour combines Nizwa’s historic old town with the ancient village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, the otherworldly Al Hoota Cave, and two of the region’s most spectacular mountain plateaus: Jabal Al Akhdar and Jabal Shams.

Day one centers on Nizwa itself: the imposing 17th-century Nizwa Fort, with its 34-metre round tower, the atmospheric Old Nizwa Souq, and the winding lanes of the old village, before continuing up into the mountains to the terraced, spring-fed village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. On day two, descend into the subterranean lakes of Al Hoota Cave before driving up to the rose and pomegranate terraces of Jabal Al Akhdar (“the Green Mountain”) and on to Jabal Shams, Oman’s highest peak, home to Wadi Ghul — widely known as the Grand Canyon of Arabia.

💡 How it works: Tell us your travel date and group size – we’ll arrange your private 2-day Nizwa tour, including hotel pick-up, an experienced 4×4 driver-guide, one night’s accommodation in the mountains, and all stops along the way.
