Just off the coast northwest of Muscat lies one of Oman’s best-kept natural secrets: the Dimaniyat Islands (also known as Daymaniyat Islands), a chain of nine small, uninhabited islands connected by coral gardens. Declared Oman’s sole marine Nature Reserve by royal decree in 1996, the islands protect nesting beaches for hawksbill and green turtles, thriving coral reefs, and important seabird colonies.
On this full-day boat excursion, you’ll cross by boat from a marina near Muscat to reach the reserve, then spend the day snorkeling or diving among coral gardens home to over 350 marine species — including sea turtles, reef sharks, rays and, in season, the occasional whale shark. Lunch is served on board as you island-hop between snorkeling and swimming stops in some of the clearest water on the Omani coast.

Access restriction: The reserve is closed to all visitors from May to October each year to protect nesting turtles and breeding seabirds — trips only run from November to April
What to bring: Swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, a light cover-up (it can get windy on the boat), a towel, and motion-sickness tablets if you’re prone to seasickness
